Happy New Year!

Guys! It is 2018! How crazy is that!!!!

I see each New Year as a milestone of self-reflection. Though I am a person who believes that you shouldn’t wait for the new year to make a resolution, that now is always the best time to start anything, I do make my list of things every year that I want to work on or achieve in the coming 365 days. It allows you something to refer back to, to keep you on track, to keep you motivated. Best of all at the end of the year you can look back at this list and feel the gratification of the progress you made in each goal.

However, to just make a list and pin it on your vanity or by your desk is not good enough. You need a plan and you need the right attitude. The plan is important but the attitude is imperative because the plan will get screwed with. things will come up and throw you off balance. The year is a long journey. Every aspiration and dream you have for the new year must have the right intention behind it. Every goal has to have a CLEARLY IDENTIFIABLE intention behind it. If you have these intentions in your perspective, then every time you are faced with a decision to make, your natural disposition will lead you in the right direction.

And here is where I share with you what truly inspired me to write this post. One of the best reasons I give people for doing what I do, living my life the way I do including diet, exercise, yoga, meditation, stress management, self care, social experiences… the whole nine yards… is because I want to have the greatest quality of life for as long as possible. Today I did a little treadmill run (because in NY it is FREEZING) and I was listening to The Best of 2017 Part 1 of the Rich Roll Podcast (@richroll). The third guest that was recapped with Daren Olien (@SuperLifeLiving), who is the Super Food Hunter for shakeology, and he said these words:

“I just want to inspire people to be excited that today I am sitting in my chair of my past choices and I am proud of it and i want people to be stoked that you are choosing today… if you decide to do this every day that a year is going to blink by and your life is going to be sustainably different…”

So I dare you to think about those long term goals… climbing trees with your grandchildren, living on your own into your old age, going for a swim in the ocean and knowing you are safe, or experiencing things like hiking Machu Picchu! Think about you career goals, your social relationships, you spiritual experiences, and your personal happiness. Set those intentions, integrate that energy and attitude, so that every choice along the way is powered and reinforced with the greater picture. Make the plan so that in a year’s time you can sit your chair of past decisions and be proud of it!
